What does this privacy policy cover?

In accordance with the data protection legislation and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (the “GDPR”) and the Data Protection and Digital Rights Guarantee Act 3/2018, of 5 December, (“LOPDGDD” in its initials in Spanish), this information covers the information that Maths for More, S.L. (“Wiris”) collates on you when you use our products, services and websites (“Services”). This policy also explains your options regarding the way in which we use the information on you. Your options include the way in which you can object to certain usages of information about you and how you can access and rectify certain information about you. If you do not consent to this policy, do not access or use our Services.

This privacy policy explains the following:

  • who the data controller is;
  • what personal data we collate;
  • at what point we collate your personal data;
  • for what purposes and on what legal basis we process your personal data;
  • whom we share your personal data with; 
  • how long we can store your personal data; 
  • whether we carry out international transfers; and 
  • what your rights are.

2. What personal data do we collect?

  1. your personal details (e.g., your name, surname, email address, postal address, other contact details, etc.); 
  2. academic and professional information (e.g., your academic records, CV, etc.); 
  3. consent to receive commercial information from Wiris; 
  4. Storage of the expiry date of the card used in paying for subscription services or products: the expiry date of the card used will only be stored in order to remind you of the possibility of updating the payment methods used to avoid an interruption of the services. 

Please bear in mind that you are responsible for checking and ensuring that all of the information, contents, material or data that you provide are correct, complete, precise and not misleading.


3. At what point do we collate your personal data? 

We collect and process information about you only where we have legal bases for doing so under applicable EU laws. The legal bases depend on the Services you use and how you use them. This means we collect and use your information;

  1. Through the purchase form: to provide Wiris’s services in accordance with the Terms and Conditions for the different products that the Wiris offers.
  2. During the subscription to commercial communications and Wiris: to receive the latest updates on our services and promotions. 
  3. Through the contact form: the Wiris online platform has a contact form for users to request information about our services or to lodge any complaints or claims. 
  4. On the “Work with Us” form: the Wiris online platform has a “Job” form for users to apply for job offers or send in their application.
  5. Contact via email: we have set up various email addresses to provide users with another way to contact Wiris for any reason that may exist connected to the Services that Wiris offers. 
  6. Contact via telephone: any user can call the number listed on wiris.com to contact Wiris and relay any kind of message. 
  7. Through the Services: We collate information on you when you enter it through the contractual Services. 
  8. Through our websites or other media: We can obtain personal data about you through our websites or similar media, channels or applications operated by WIRIS or in its name.
  9. Through cookies: our platform uses cookies that collate information on how you browse; we recommend reading our Cookies Policy for full information on this matter.
  10. When paying for our Services: we store the expiry date on the credit card used in payment for the aforementioned purpose, only during the payment process.

4. For what purposes and on what legal basis do we process your personal data?

Here at Wiris, we process personal data based on the purposes and the legal bases as listed below: 

  • To manage registration as a Service user. If you decide to use Wiris’s Services, it will be necessary to process your data so that you can access the functions of the Services.

Legal Basis: it is necessary to process data to sign you up for the Wiris platform in order to perform an agreement (Article 6.1.b) of the GDPR), which is deemed to be the terms and conditions that govern the use of the platform. 

  • Subscription to commercial information on Wiris’s products. 

Legal Basis: processing is conducted based on the consent you granted via the contact form set up on our website (Article 21.1 of the Information Society Services and e-Commerce Act 34/2002, and Article 6.1.a) of the GDPR). However, if we have a pre-contractual relationship and the communications are about the services specifically, the information will be sent based on our legitimate interest (Article 6.1.f) of the GDPR) in connection with the authorisation regulated in Article 21.2 of the Information Society Services Act.

  • Attending to, managing and handling any possible requests, comments, queries or claims that a user lodges through the channels put in place for such purpose.

Legal Basis: depending on the nature of the action or communication addressed to Wiris, the processing may be based on: 

  1. Consent: granted by the user when they send in a query that is not covered by the legal bases listed below. 
  2. Performance of an agreement or the implementation of pre-contractual measures: for cases in which the data processing conducted by Wiris is conducted as a result of an existing contractual relationship or, where applicable, in light of a possible contractual relationship. 
  3. Legitimate Interest: Processing will be conducted based on Wiris’s legitimate interest in responding to requests or queries that may be lodged via the channels put in place on the web platform when there is not a contractual or pre-contractual relationship between Wiris and the data subject.
  4. Compliance with legal obligations: if you exercise one of the rights listed in this privacy policy, your data will be processed in order to comply with the legal obligations. 
  • Receiving and assessing applications for jobs offered by Wiris. 

Legal Basis: depending on whether the data is sent in response to a specific job vacancy posted or, alternatively, a spontaneous application, the processing will be based on:

  1. Consent: if the application is sent to Wiris via the channel put in place for such purpose in a simultaneous manner. 
  2. Performance of a contract or implementation of contractual measures: when the application is sent in for a vacant position. 
  • To manage and publish opinions, reviews and/or ratings of our products and/or services.

Legal Basis: The processing is conducted based on your consent (Article 6.1.a) of the GDPR). 

Please bear in mind that, if you decide to write an opinion, review and/or rating, the personal information linked to it could be visible to third parties who visit and/or access our website.

  • Information that you provide in Wiris’s Services.

Legal Basis: The processing is conducted based on your consent (Article 6.1.a) of the GDPR).

  • Complying with our legal obligations, possible court orders and other decisions made by the authorities. Including sending personal data to law enforcement agencies, as long as we have suspicions or indicators of an action that could amount to an unlawful act/crime. 

Legal Basis: Data processing for these purposes is conducted based on compliance with Wiris’s legal obligations (Article 6.1.c) of the GDPR). 

  • Alert on the expiry of the payment method used. 

Legal Basis: Data processing for this purpose is conducted based on a legitimate interest in avoiding an interruption of the service (Article 6.1.f) of the GDPR). 

  • To allow you to share your profile and information with other users who have signed up for the same Services. 

Legal Basis: The processing is conducted based on your consent (Article 6.1.a) of the GDPR).

If you are interested in signing up for the Services offered by Wiris, the processing of your data will be governed by the information you provide during the contracting process. 


5. With whom do we share your personal data?

Depending on the purposes for which we have collated your personal data, the following third parties may access your data: 

  • Public administration when there is a legal obligation.
  • Competent Bodies and/or Authorities and relevant law enforcement agencies when there is a requirement, a legal obligation or if we deem there are indicators and/or suspicions of an unlawful act or a crime. 
  • Collaborators and third-party service providers that process information as data processors. We have a data processing agreement with all of our service providers in line with data protection legislation. 
  • Employees and/or collaborators authorised by Wiris who are always subject to the applicable data protection legislation. 

6. How long can we store your personal data?

Personal data will be processed during the necessary term to comply with the purposes stipulated in this privacy policy as to store your personal information to comply with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations, specifically with regards to the statutory terms, and for lodging, exercising or appealing any claims.


7. Do we store your data outside the country you live in or transfer it there?

Our Services are, by nature, global, and your personal data may be stored/transferred in/to and processed in countries other than the one where you live. These countries may have different data protection laws to those of your country. The international data transfers that Wiris may conduct will be done with a suitable level of security in accordance with data protection legislation. The suitable security measures that our partners may use include standard contractual clauses approved by the EU Commission.


8. What rights do you have when you send us your personal data?

Wiris’s data processing grants the data subject the following rights:

  1. The right to access personal data: you can ask if we are processing your data and, if so, access it.
  2. The right to request rectification if the data is inexact or complete incomplete data that we hold. 
  3. The right to request data erasure. 
  4. The right to request processing limitation: in this case, we will only store your information for lodging or appealing any claims.
  5. The right to object to processing: we will stop processing your personal data, except data that must be processed for legitimate reasons or to lodge or appeal any possible claims.
  6. The right to data portability: if you wish to have your data processed by a different data controller, we will make it possible to transfer your data to the new controller as long as this is technically possible. 
  7. The right to not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing of your personal data. 

The consent that you have granted for any purpose stipulates that it could be revoked whenever you wish. However, you should be aware that the withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

9. California Residents.

If you are a resident of the State of California, you have certain rights afforded to you under the California Consumer Privacy Act or the “CCPA.” When we say “personal information” in this section, we mean information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you. personal information does not include information that is aggregated or information that cannot be reasonably linked to you.

We collect personal information and non-personal information for the business and commercial purposes described in the section above titled “How do we use your personal information?” We do not sell (as such term is defined in the CCPA) the personal information we collect (and will not sell it without providing a right to opt out). 

Subject to certain limitations, the CCPA provides California residents the following rights:

  1. You have the right to request that we disclose to you the personal information we collect, use, or disclose, and information about our data practices;
  2. You have the right to request that we delete your personal information that we have collected from you;
  3. You have the right to request that we no longer sell your personal information to third parties;
  4. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

California residents may make a request pursuant to their “right to know,” “right to request deletion,” and/or “right to opt-out” under the CCPA by contacting us in accordance with the “Contact Us” section below. In order to verify your request to know or delete information, we may require you to provide us with certain information to be used solely for the purpose of verifying your identity.

Under the CCPA, you may exercise these rights yourself or you may designate an authorized agent to make these requests on your behalf. We may request that your authorized agent have written permission from you to make requests on your behalf and may need to verify your authorized agent’s identity.


10. Additional information. 

Policy for use by children. Our services are not aimed at minors. In this respect, we do not intentionally collate information on minors. In any case, if you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that your child or ward has sent us their personal data, we please ask that you contact use by sending an email to privacy@wiris.com

Third-party personal data. If the personal data provided belong to a third party, you guarantee that you have informed such third party of the points contained in this privacy policy and that you have obtained their consent to provide us with their data for the purposes listed in this policy. 

Updates. Your data will be processed in accordance with the privacy policy currently in force at the time that we collate your information. If Wiris modifies the processing of your data, you will be duly informed.
